At “Monk” (“the App”), we value your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and how long we retain it when you use the App.

1. Information We Collect

1.1. Personal Information

We collect information you provide, such as your name and email address. When you use Sign in with Apple, we process account information provided by Apple (unless you choose to hide it).

1.2. Usage Information

We process in-app progress, counters, goals, choices, and achievements to provide core functionality and personalize your experience.

1.3. Device and Technical Information

We may process technical information such as device model, OS version, crash/error logs, and push notification device token for app performance, security, and notifications.

1.4. Permission Status Information

We process permission status for camera, notifications, photo library, and Screen Time in order to manage related features inside the App.

2. Camera, Face Data, and Screen Time Use

2.1. Camera and Photo Use

The camera and photo library are used only for the following features:

• Care activity verification: a photo you take (or choose from your library) is sent to a third-party AI vision service (fal.ai) to confirm you completed a self-care activity. The photo is used only for that verification and is not stored by us or by the provider.
• Body workouts: the camera counts your exercise reps using on-device processing. No images are stored or uploaded.

2.2. Face Data Use

The App does not use face data for identity recognition.

The App does not create biometric identifiers, face templates, faceprints, or face landmarks for identification.

2.3. Face Data Retention (Explicit Statement)

Face data is not retained.

Face-related processing is performed transiently in device memory and discarded immediately after processing.

Face data retention period is 0 (no persistent storage).

2.4. Screen Time API Use

The App uses Apple's Screen Time API to block selected content.

Browsing history and app usage details accessed through Screen Time permissions are not sent to our servers and are not stored by us.

Blocking operations are performed locally on device.

3. How We Use Data

We process data to:

• Provide and manage App features.
• Create and manage user accounts and sessions.
• Send motivational reminders and notifications.
• Troubleshoot issues, improve performance, and maintain security.
• Manage subscription and payment status.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell personal data. Data may be shared only in these cases:

• Service Providers: for infrastructure and service delivery (e.g., Supabase for account and progress storage, RevenueCat for subscription management, fal.ai for Care photo verification, and Apple services).
• Legal Obligations: when required by applicable law or valid legal process.

Face data is not shared with third parties.

Face data is not stored on our servers or on third-party systems.

5. Storage Locations and Retention Periods

• Account information: retained while account is active or until deletion request.
• Usage/profile data: retained as needed to provide the service or until deletion request.
• Push notification token: retained until notifications are disabled, logout, or account deletion.
• Technical logs (crash/performance): retained for a reasonable period for security and troubleshooting.
• Face data: not retained (0 duration).

These periods exist to provide the service securely, support users, and comply with legal obligations.

6. Data Security

We apply industry-standard technical and organizational safeguards. However, no method of internet transmission or storage is 100% secure.

7. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of your personal data.

You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Delete Account), or by contacting support.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed to children below the minimum legal age under applicable law. If such data is identified, we will take appropriate deletion measures.

9. Policy Updates

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always include the “Last Updated” date.
